I tried lamb saagwala for the first time at an indian restaurant a couple months ago... best decision I have ever made. It's so good and I can't get enough of it, I decided I should try and make my own. Lamb Saagwala is basically a creamy spinach sauce with lamb. Since the boyfriend suggested we have more vegetables in our diet, adding a whole bag of spinach in our food seemed like a simple and easy way to incorporate that. Green is a yucky colour, but lately I have been really into adding random colours to our dishes, especially after I found out there are more varieties of every fruit and vegetable than there are offered at the supermarkets. There are yellow tomatoes, white eggplants, yellow zucchinis etc. Since they can't easily be obtained, I've decided to grow more different kinds of vegetables. We'll see how that goes!

 

Ingredients:

butter/coconut oil

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

1 bay leaf

2-3 cardamom pods

1 tsp cumin powder

1 onion, sliced

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp ground ginger

1/2 tsp ground garlic

1 tomato, chopped

1 cinnamon stick

1 tsp coriander powder

1/4 tsp garam masala

1/2 cup water

boneless lamb, cubed

1 bag spinach

1/4 cup coconut cream

salt

pepper

So since my post about cutting chocolate out, I have fallen off the wagon around July. So I went on a chocolate cut for about 7 months before I decided to have some again. Some became more than some and finally my boyfriend decided I have to quit eating chocolate for a while again because according to him, I'm addicted. So my first day of no sugar no chocolate started on 29th September 2013. It had been 5 days since I last had anything sweet - Saturday, we both decided Golden Gaytime ice cream would be my final naughty dessert before I commence weaning off my sugar addiction on Sunday.

 

The first few days was alright. I brought banana to work so that I would have something sweet and not go digging in the chocolate box we have at work. Then yesterday (Thursday), someone brought cake to work. First work cake I did not have. :( and then my boss offered me Tim Tams. First time someone offered me something and I had to say no. TWICE IN A DAY! There was sugar all around me so finally I decided enough was enough. I have an addiction, I need to get off sugar but I WANT sweetness.

 

I have recently come across Pinterest, and they have amazing paleo recipes on there. I found this crepes recipe and used it as an inspiration and made my own version! Delicious. Last night was also the last night my boyfriend would be home before he went on a car cruise over the weekend so I decided to make us a little treat for dessert before he went off. It is amazing. It's not very sweet, but sweet enough to help with sugar cravings and it is healthy!

 

Ingredients:

2 tbsp almond meal

3 eggs

1/2 cup coconut cream/ coconut milk

1/2 tbsp cacao powder

1/4 tsp stevia

1 tbsp vanilla extract

coconut oil

fresh fruit

cinnamon powder

cream (optional)

So this vegetable bake isn't Paleo 1.0 with all the cheese in it, but dairy is Paleo 2.0 and it is just too good to not have it in our lives. We have milk, cheese, cream and yoghurt everyday. So good!

 

I recently had a training course at AIM WA and the lunch that they provided us with was really good. The vegetable bake was one of those delicious foods they made and I wanted to make it myself. So I threw in the vegetables we had in the house, made my cream sauce and tadaa!

 

I did discover that I had to triple the recipe I found because it wasn't enough to coat all my vegetables. This was quite enough for the bake I made because the cooked vegetables produced more water so your bake doesn't necessarily have to be drowning in cream sauce when you put it in the oven.

 

Ingredients:

6 tbsp / 150g butter

6 tbsp cornflour

1 cup cream

3 cups milk

grated cheese (optional)

salt

pepper
